Sacred Heart School Capital Campaign
Preserving our Heritage to Ensure
our Future
Sacred Heart School is the last Catholic School in the
Western Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The purpose of this
campaign is to ensure the continuance of our school and
its wonderful heritage.
The school serves children in kindergarten through sixth
grade. Sacred Heart Parish of L'Anse operates the school
and provides financial subsidies as well as St. Ann's
Parish in Baraga. The general funding for Sacred Heart
comes from a combination of; modest tuitions, grants,
scholarships, fundraisers and an endowment fund. The
Sacred Heart School Endowment Fund is a major source of
income and was created to help support the school. Only
the interest earned each year is given to the school for
day to day operations.
Our Open-Door Policy allows us to serve the educational
needs of children from many faith backgrounds. Sacred
Heart School has been accredited by the Michigan
Nonpublic School Accrediting Association since 1992.
The school building opened in March of 1954 and is now
in desperate need of major repairs. Specifically the
furnace has far exceeded its useful life and all the
temporary repairs made can no longer keep it running.
The windows are the same as when the school opened, and
there are areas of leaking into the basement from
insufficient drainage and cement repair needed. For a
complete outlined plan see the Renovation Plan link on
this page.
It is our intent to raise $500,000 over a five year
period. If only 100 people commit to a five year pledge
of $1,000 per year, our goal will be met. Several have
already committed to this pledge.
Thank you in advance for helping in our effort to keep
the tradition of excellence in Catholic education.
